Voting Question: wanting to move to a nice part of scotland to study.?

I am a midwife,i want to do a masters. i currently live in london but i want to go to uni in scotland. i like moving around and i think parts of scotland are beautiful and it will be a good experience. However i have heard from friends that scotland is not 'friendly'. I am mixed race ( caribbean, irish) with an english accent and 23 years old and ive been told i will be dislked ( not for my age). I really want to experience scotland but this is puttiing me off a bit. is it true? i have also been told this by a scotish midwife who now works in the south east.
